Commander’s Search Appreciation Course
Duration 1 Day
This course is designed to provide an overview of the possibilities of search and its limitations within the criminal and military field of operation together with cost implications.
The course takes the form of lectures and discussions and explores the advantages in using fully trained search personnel, whether in a Counter Terrorist or criminal search role. It caters for up to 50 students, although an optimum number is 25 – 30.

Bomb/Search Awareness/ Post Room
Duration 1/2 Day
The course provides a basic knowledge of current postal and other improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the action to take when dealing with them and equipment available to assist in their detection.
The course will heighten the awareness of the effects of explosives and terrorism and suggest a few simple building search techniques for every day use. Maximum number of students is 30.

Duration 4/7 day Initial Search Course Benefits
The object of the 4 Day course is to produce students fully trained in C.T. Low Risk Search Techniques and includes practical, hands on, exercises. It provides techniques for effectively searching buildings, venues, vehicles, people, routes and areas.
It also updates the threat as it relates to the organisation/country, deals with the effect of explosives, the appropriate use of dogs and introduces current search equipment.
The addition of extra days would give Search Supervisors on the course an opportunity to examine the planning implications and command and control requirements of a search operation. Maximum numbers on this course are 25 students. Instructor levels will depend on student numbers but will be 3-5.

Duration – 3 / 4 Week Search Planning Course
This course undertakes to provide a greater, in depth knowledge of counter-terrorist search and introduces basic planning aspects of the discipline.
It requires a general level of knowledge of basic search and will provide the grounding for search planning and the future creation of the role of Search Adviser.
Police Search Advisers are capable of planning, conducting and controlling low risk counter terrorist searches [and conventional crime searches] performed by their trained search teams. They can also provide a degree of search training, particularly search awareness training and team continuation training. They can offer advice on all search matters, whether counter terrorist or not.
Maximum numbers on this course are 25 students. Instructor levels will depend on student number but will be 3 – 5.

Explosive Search and EOD Training
Strings Security Limited provides a comprehensive range of explosive search and EOD courses with recognised qualification accreditation through an associate company.
The Qualifications:
Currently there are six N/SVQs each based on the National Occupational Standards designed with a Munition Search, Munition Clearance or Specified Target Search emphasis. The six qualifications include operational management, supervisory management and operator level. One further qualification is awaiting accreditation by CQA and others may follow in the future. Brief descriptions of the qualifications are as follows:
- Level 4 – Planning and Management of Munition Clearance Operations
- Level 3 – Supervisory Management of Munition Clearance and/or Search Operations
- Level 3 – Search for and Disposal of Munitions
- Level 3 – Search for Munitions and/or Specified Targets
